On a more personal note...
I once heard a very successful person say, "Fake it til you make it... no one wants to hear how business is failing and how you are down in the dumps about it." I actually believe that... to an extent. I love it when people ask how my business is doing and I tell them the honest truth... it SUCKS. Their reaction tells me a whole lot about them as well as whether they asked because they just don't know how to have a conversation with me OR whether they really and truly care about me and my business. The ones who don't care quickly change the subject. The ones who do care ask a few more questions and sometimes even offer the support of their desire to lift in prayer.
I never want to be seen as a "faker." But there are times in my life when... well, quite frankly... I simply HAVE to push through the valley I'm placed in. No, I'm not going to jump for joy while in the valley. I want to make it back up to the mountain top where the air is clean and the sights are vast. So I push on... through the valley... in the direction of the mountain top... with a joyful spirit. My business may seem to be doing "great" to onlookers... even though in my opinion it may "suck lemons" at the moment. I'm not "faking" it. With a joyful spirit, I am MAKING IT through the valley.
This rings true for everything we go through in life, I believe. This is why it is so important for us to always keep in mind that we really have no clue what others may be going through. AND... it also helps us to keep in mind that we should be very cautious with our kindness when we ask how someone is doing or how their family is doing or how their work is doing. No one enjoys a "faker." If we wouldn't want others to be "fake" with us, we have to be prepared to hear the truth when we ask such questions, even if the truth is a bit uncomfortable. Just think of how uncomfortable that person is in actually going through the truth. This shouldn't detour us from asking either... "Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interest of others." Philippians 2:3-4
So... how are you today? I really want to know :)
Thanks for visiting, friend. Have a blessed day!
