Today I am revamping my charity Facebook page
(Please note... this is a bit of a long post.
Should you decide to read it all the way through, I would be ever so grateful
for you taking an interest in my heart's sharing. More importantly,
I would be more than grateful -whether you read the entire post or not-
if you would visit my charity Facebook page PAPER WITH A PURPOSE.
To better understand the page, you may want to read on...)
Originally, five of my friends and I began a journey
together where our hearts were joined to
CREATE and DONATE.
We each chose an endeavor to tackle
and I chose Facebook.
Our idea was to create hand made gifts and greetings
to donate to each others' endeavors of choice
and do so while glorifying the Lord at the same time.
Each month we would take turns creating for
the others creative endeavor.
We made a good go of it for about a year
families, schedules, finances...
these things just sometimes tend to get in the way
of hopes and dreams.
Nothing, however, can get in the way of our friendships!
THAT is what I have cherished most about
my offering through Paper with a Purpose!
I know I can still call on my friends for
creative assistance from time to time if I need it.
I, however, still feel called to offer my own
creative gifts and greetings via
my Facebook page
At first, my goal was to assist first time missionaries
in their efforts to fund-raise for their trips.
Well, guess what happened
just ONE WEEK before establishing the FB page!
I received a letter from a dear student of mine
asking for assistance with his mission trip!
The FB page was still in the making.
No one (other than my five creative friends) knew
of my heart's desire to raise money
in assistance to those with a calling of
Matthew 28:19-20 on their hearts.
I thought (for sure) it was a "sign!"
Surely God was telling me my efforts via
were exactly what He had wanted me to do!
THEN... after launching the FB page
and announcing my efforts to
assist the sweetest Caleb...
another "sign" seemed to come...
$100 in donations were raised within just
I was all, "WOW, God!"
I thought surely God was then telling me
how He wanted me to continue with
No one seemed interested in purchasing our greeting cards.
Slowly but surely... one by one...
my creative friends began to drop back from
our creative endeavors and...
and I felt a bit confused... and somewhat "stuck."
What in the world was God trying to tell me?!
(at least this is what I kept asking myself)
No one was "liking" the Facebook page.
No one was purchasing the cards
my friends and I had donated.
No one was donating.
That's when it happened.
I gave up.
There. I said it. I gave up.
Maybe God didn't want me to "waste" my time with
I mean, I understand the ups and downs and all...
but couldn't I be utilizing my time better
to serve the kingdom?!
Still... that tiny voice heard only by my own heart was
telling me to "do it anyway."
What's the use, God?!
Or perhaps my question should have been
worded a tiny bit differently... such as...
What's the... POINT, God?!
I have come to believe THAT is exactly what
my Heavenly Father has wanted me to ask Him.
The answers I get are confirming, reassuring, and
most importantly... encouraging.
I am lead to many Scriptures but the one
to stand out to me most is
And so... I press on to promote
and cling tightly to God's promise of
"The Lord will fulfill His PURPOSE in me;
Your steadfast love, O Lord, endures forever.
Do not forsake the WORK OF YOUR HANDS."
My papercrafting life verse has always been
"All things were made through Him (Jesus),
and without Him (Jesus)
nothing was made that was made."
The gifts and greetings offered through
were created with hearts which desire to serve
our Lord Jesus Christ.
Therefore, HE is the one to have
made our offerings... not us.
And HE will serve HIS "purpose" through them.
As for me...
